How it all Started :
Harrison Electric was established in Michigan City, IN in 1962. At that time it was located in a 5,000 square foot building on Harrison Street, (Hence the name ). In 1979, the manager, Lou Halter, was looking to sell the business to an interested party that would keep it going.
A gentleman
by the
name of Tom Walma,
(Tom working on a Com November 1972)
who had worked in motor shops as well as many General Electric Facilities, was looking to settle down in Northwest Indiana. It was the perfect match. Tom started working for Harrison in 1980 and took over the 3 employee business in March 1985. Things were getting pretty tight in the small building and capabilities were becoming limited. In 1992, that changed with the construction of a new 17,000 square foot facility at our current location on the south side of Michigan City near I-94. We have been providing a high quality service at a competitive price with on time delivery ever since. We have expanded into new markets along with motor repair such as substation maintenance, Infrared Scanning, Vibration Analysis and others. And, we are still growing......
